PURPOSE:To perform display processing corresponding to a control code which indicates the kind of image data, etc., on a reception side and to improve the throughput of an image data communication system by adding the control code in the frame of image data. CONSTITUTION:A figure shows the data frame constitution of a standard HDLC procedure and (n) bytes are assigned to image data (pattern or code). One-byte image data contents code is added to the image data as the control code which indicates the contents of the image data. The image data contents code consists of eight bits (one byte) including the starting two bits (a) for mode specification and succeeding two bits (b) for discrimination among R, G, B, black, and white. Further, the 5th bit (c) is used to indicate whether a succeeding frame is present or not, the 6th and the 7th bits are spare bits, and the final bit (d) is used for a parity check.
