Synthetic fibres are made into felted blankets, based on 55 wt.% acryl fibre. Crimp index is >=40%, changing is not >15% before and after dyeing. The fibres are subjected to a needle-felting operation in which the needles are driven by half the fibre thickness into the boards of the machine below the fibre layer. This is followed by napping, roughening, drying in a tumbler. Feel, aspect, long life are equal to those of a natural fibre blanket. |
