Embossing roller for the embossing of textile materials, such as leather, artificial leather, plastic tapes, elastic or inelastic bands or the like, which cooperates with a pressure roller and which has, on the cylindrical outer surface, projections bringing about the embossing, the embossing roller consisting of a solid cylindrical core and of a thin coating having the projections bringing about the embossing, and the coating being held releasably on the cylindrical core.
