摘要 1311040 Electro-photographic copiers MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [13 March 1970] 24146/71 Heading G2H In an electro-photographic copier, photoconductive film is passed through a cutter which cuts it into lengths, and a predetermined number of image frames are successively exposed, developed and fixed on each length; the frames having unexposed margins by which the lengths are advanced through the copier and the margins being trimmed off after processing. Preferably the copier is for micro-filming and the processed lengths are dispensed from the copier in mounts. As shown, Fig.2, the process starts with the end of film 52 unwound from a roll 68 and positioned at a charging and exposing station 36. On depressing the start switch, a corona discharge device (55), Fig. 4 (not shown), is moved into position by a pivoted arm (57) to charge the film. During charging, a cutter blade 74 is actuated to sever off a length of film capable of receiving two image frames. After charging and cutting the film is imagewise exposed using lamps 47, 48, mirror 67, shutter 50 and lens 49; exposure time being controlled by a timer. A transport system 39 comprising rollers 54, 56, 58, 60 then engages just the margins of the first length and feeds it to position the exposed frame at a developing station 79 and the second, as yet unexposed frame, at station 36. At station 79 a developing chamber 230, Fig.6, is moved into abutment with the first frame, is filled with developing liquid from a supply 232 (which liquid contacts the image at an aperture in the side of the chamber) and is then drained and retracted. On pressing the start switch again, the second frame of the first length is charged and exposed and then transport system 39 starts to feed a second length which pushes the first length so that the first frame is moved to a fixing station 81 (comprising a movable chamber 240 and a fixing liquid supply 242 similar to the developing system) and the second frame to developing station 79. Fixing station 81 may be omitted if the developing liquid also fixes. A roller 100 on a pivoted arm then advances the first length whereby firstly the second frame is fixed and secondly the whole of the first length is passed between a cutting roller 336 and cutting discs 332 (and 334) Fig.13, (not shown), to trim off the margins. The trimmed portions are guided away to a basket (365) Fig. 3, (not shown). A holder 460 containing a stack of mounts 380 is raised to position a lower pocket 390, Fig. 23, of a mount in the film feed path. A reciprocating opener 394 (also depicted in Figs. 25, 26 not shown), opens the pocket and a pusher 418 Figs.14-20 (not shown) shoves the first length 65a into pocket 390. The start button is then pressed third and fourth times to expose two frames on the second length 65b, and the holder 406 is lowered to receive it in a pocket 392. Rollers (498, 499), Fig.25 (not shown) eject the mount 380. The mechanical and electrical system controlling the copier is described in detail.
