There are reacted together:… (a) a polyalkylenepolyamine with 2 primary and one secondary amino group, and optionally an aliphatic diamine;… (b) an alicyclic dibasic carboxylic acid or its ester or anhydride, and/or the reaction product (polyester) of such acid with a glycol, and optionally another dibasic arboxylic acid;… (c) a urea, and… (d) (i) a monoaldehyde or polyaldehyde or (ii) an alkylating agent which can be of 6 defined types, preferably epichlorohydrin, or both (i) and (ii) if (i) is formaldehyde and/or glyoxal. …<??>Preferably (d) is reacted with the product of (a), (b) and (c). …<??>An aqueous solution of the resultant resin is mixed with pigment and water-soluble binder, and the composition is coated on a paper sheet to provide coated paper having good water resistance and ink receptivity and low evolution of formaldehyde. |
