The invention relates to a folding modular structure with covering intended to form a mobile shelter. The function of the structure is to stretch an awning in order to form a sheltering roofing element. The structure 1 comprises a central supporting column 3 fixed to a base 4 around which arms 5 are articulated which extend, in the opened-out position, above the level of the upper end 6 of the column 3 and an awning 2 fixed to the ends of the various arms 5 and which, in addition, extends to the upper part 6 of the central supporting column 3 so as to exhibit a widening shape. The invention will be used especially to form a roof for sheltering staff or equipment on building sites. <IMAGE>
