PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording medium capable of applying high density and high quality printing even to paper having a rough surface and generating no background staining and excellent in blocking resistance, by providing at least one layer containing in blocking polyoxyalkylene compound between a support and a heat-meltable coloring material layer. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer recording medium wherein at least one heat-meltable coloring material layer is provided on a support, at least one layer (heat-meltable layer) containing a polyoxyalkylene compound is provided between the support and the heat-meltable coloring material layer. That is, a heat-meltable layer 2 is provided on the support 1 and the heat-meltable coloring material layer 3 is provided thereon. As a further pref. mode, a sticking preventing layer 4 is provided on the opposite side of the support 1. As the substance used in the heat-meltable layer 2, a substance solid or semi-solid at ambient temp. is designated and has a m.p. or softening point of 25-120 deg.C. By this method, high density and high quality printing can be applied to rough paper having low surface smoothness and no background staining is generated at the time or printing and blocking during the preservation of the thermal transfer recording medium is not generated. |
