A device for joining the overlapping edges of two film strips of synthetic resin material using a liquid adhesive or a welding solvent, comprises a movable frame 1 adapted to be moved along the edges, said frame having a pair of leading wheels 3 at the front thereof, a flat brush 2 adapted to be supplied with liquid adhesive or welding solvent, e.g. from a container 19 through a valve 17, and mounted at the end of a guide rod 4 loosely mounted in the frame 1 for movement towards or away from the strips, and a pressure element 5 adapted to press the strip edges against the support on passage over them, said pressure element 5 comprising a plurality of rollers 6, 8 surrounded and held under tension by an endless band 9 which extends the full width of the rollers. The band 9 may comprise foamed plastics with an outer covering 10 resistant to the solvent or adhesive used. With such an arrangement, precise glued or welded seams can be produced at high speed and without distortions. <IMAGE> |
