NEW MATERIAL:Tricyclo[4.3.1.1<2>,<5>]undec-7-ene expressed by formula I. USE:A perfume component which is an aromatic substance having powerful aroma. PREPARATION:A tricyclo[4.3.1.1<2>,<5>]undecane-1-carbonyl halide expressed by formula II is treated in the presence of a transition metal catalyst and tertiary amine to carry out dehydrohalogenation and decarbonylation and afford the aimed tricyclo[4.3.1.1<2>,<5>]undec-7-ene expressed by formula I.
