1293665 Making thrust bearings; forging KARL SCHMIDT GmbH 28 Oct 1970 [13 Nov 1969] 51305/70 Headings B3A and B3H [Also in Division F2] An annular thrust bearing 6 is produced by pressing a flat annular disc 1 between an annular punch 2 and die 3 to form the wedge surfaces shown in Fig. 1, the bottom face of the disc then being machined off until it is flat. The upper surface of the bearing has wedge-shaped portions which rise in the direction of rotation of the bearing to create desired hydrodynamic filmforming properties. The slope of the portions may be from 0À05 to 0À3%. The lines connecting adjacent wedge surfaces may extend radially, Fig. 2, or at an angle of up to 10 degrees from a radius. Offset projections 4 on the punch and die may each have a height a of 0À5 mm., a width e of 3 mm. and a spacing d of 24 mm. |
