The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for thickening sludge by removal of water during stirring in a sedimentation tank. It is the object of the invention to create a possible method for thickening sludge by removal of water during stirring which can be carried out with high efficiency in relatively small sedimentation tanks with relatively low energy consumption. The invention comprises moving the agitator with pulsed drive and introducing liquid into the agitator through orifices in the agitator lying on the side facing away from the direction of motion and conducting away liquid out of the sedimentation tank through the agitator. |
