The field of the invention is that of public display devices, especially in the urban environment and preferably display columns known by the name of "Morris columns". The problem resolved is to supply such a display device which has a protective screen for the posters displayed, especially in the form of a removable film of transparent material, and to facilitate the use of such a device by the operator responsible for the display. This objective is achieved by a framework supporting at least one individual vertical display panel 3, 4 extending laterally over portion of the periphery of the column, the said display panel 4 being covered around its periphery by a removable, single-piece frame 6 inside which the film 5 is held and which is capable of taking up two positions: - a position in which the frame 6 is moved away from the panel 3, 4; - a closed position in which the posters are sandwiched between the film 5 and the display panel 3, 4. <IMAGE>
