PURPOSE:To miniaturize the titled device without the need of high pressure gas by a method wherein laser oscillation is accomplished in carbonic acid gas produced by supplying the mixed gas of air with organic compound vapor through one end of a discharge tube, and by the decomposition of said compound in the air. CONSTITUTION:A liquid reservoir 3 is connected to one end of the cylindrical discharge tube 1 provided with windows 1a and 1b at both ends, via conduit 3a. An exhaust pump 4 is connected to the other end of the discharge tube, which is then evacuated; thereby, the outer air is introduced to the liquid reservoir through an air introduction tube 3b, and the mixed gas of the organic compound vapor with the air is introduced to the discharge tube. Thereafter, when discharge is performed by impressing a voltage across electrodes 5a and 5b, CO2 and H2O are produced by the decomposition of the organic compound. Further, laser oscillation is started by excitation due to the discharge of N2 in the air, and a laser beam 7 is emitted. |
