ENCLOSED LEAD-STORAGE BATTERY

PURPOSE:To make the pressure applied on plates distributed uniformly by providing multiple ribs extending vertically and parallelly on inner walls opposing reaction surfaces of plates so that at least one rib is placed in one lateral pitch of plate grid. CONSTITUTION:An enclosed type lead-storage battery is constructed by accommodating a set of plates consisting of positive plates 6, negative plates 8 and mat-like separators 7 in an electrolytic tank 1. Multiple ribs 3 extending vertically and parallelly are provided on inner walls opposing the reaction surfaces of the plates in the electrolytic tank 1 so that at least one rib is placed in one lateral pitch of plate grid frame 9. Group pressure is applied by the ribs 3 to the set of plates. Therefore fall-off of active material due to deterioration of adhesion between the plate grid and the active material can be prevented and local nonuniformity of the pressure applied on the plates is eliminated, resulting in highly efficient reaction of the active material and longer service life.
