PURPOSE:To always enable high grade printing without using labor, by automatically changing over printing work to cleaning work by detecting the final end position of a printing part by constituting such a structure that the final end of the printing part of the ribbon is connected to a cleaning part for cleaning a printing head. CONSTITUTION:Printing is performed in the printing part 7a of a ribbon 7 over a predetermined length while the ribbon 7 is wound around the roller core 1 in a take-up side and the part 7b to be detected of the ribbon 7 is detected by a position detecting means 15. The detection signal is sent to a control unit 16 to perform control so as to stop printing work. That, is, the operation of a driving motor 4 is stopped to stop the feed of a carriage to printing paper 9 and the typing work by a printing head 6. In synchronous relation to said control, the roller core 11 in the take-up side rotates by the driving of the motor 13 of a drive source through a belt 14 in order to move the ribbon 7 to the printing head 6 to remove the contaminant on the surface of the printing head 6 while the ribbon 7 is moved in such a state that a cleaning part 7c is slid with the printing head 6. |
