2-Methylpentanoic acid is esterified with primary or secondary alcohols with 3-12 C atoms at temperatures from 20 to 40 DEG C in the presence of a lipase as catalyst, and the starting materials 2-methylpentanoic acid and alcohol are contacted, in the presence of up to 20 % by weight of water, with a lipase which is immobilised on a solid carrier material which is insoluble in the reaction medium. |
