The light sources (c1,c2,c3) are present in at least two different colours, those of the same colour being periodically distributed over the surface. They spread light over the complete half cylinder which is turned towards the screen (11), and are Lambert-radiating. The screen surface (11) and the base surface (2) are equal in size, and mirroring surfaces (14) extend between the surface of the screen and the edges of the base surface. The screen surface is rectangular, with the light sources parallel with one of its edges. Normally, the light sources come in three colours, pref. red, blue and green, and the screen surface is of the liquid crystal display type, the picture component of which is controllable by a television signal. The colour of light reaching the screen is selectably adjustable and a dynamic control is available for the relative intensities of the light sources of different colours, in order to match the illumination colour to the colour content in the picture. |
