Surface water drain grating for terraced roof - has radial legs with returned ends hooked elastically in annular groove on lip of tapered inlet pipe

The drain inlet comprises a wire grating (7) which looks elastically into the mouth of a bell mout pipe fitting (2). An annular inwardly facing 'U' section groove (8) in the lip of the fitting retains externally returned legs of the grating. The fitting may be of a truncated cone form, the groove being formed by shaping and machining its top edge, and may be welded to the underside of a mounting plate (5). A grating of circular inverted basket form may be utilised, the returned ends of prim. radial wires (13) engaging the groove.
