PURPOSE:To eliminate the quench of pancake coils and to prevent it from increasing by providing a temperature detector and forcibly cooling means corresponding to the coils, and increasing coolant amount as compared with normal value when the detected temperature value of the coil exceeds the prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting coil 6 is contained in a vacuum vessel 7 and cooled by liquid helium, and excited by an external power source. Pancake coils have therein forcibly cooling coolant passages, liquid helium of coolant is refrigerated by a refrigerator 5, and fed under pressure by pumps 41-49 through pipes 91 to the coils 61-69. A controller 100 receives signals from temperature detectors 81-89 set in the coils 61-69 to detect the temperature by a detector 1 by temperature comparison at the coil which raises its temperature over the prescribed value to apply the detection signal to corresponding pump controllers 31-39 to increase the coolant flow rate to be corresponding coil. |
