A description is given of the preparation of an inositol triphosphate (IP3) selected from the group which consists of D-myo-inositol 1,2,6-triphosphate, D-myo-inositol 1,2,5-triphosphate, L-myo-inositol 1,3,4-triphosphate and myo-inositol 1,2,3-triphosphate.
