PURPOSE:To increase the general color rendering index of a metal halide lamp, by charging the emission tube in a luminescent state with at least one of the halides of titanium, zirconium and hafnium. CONSTITUTION:An emission tube provided with an electrode is charged with mercury, a rare gas, and luminous metals, that are sodium halide and scandium halide. The charged molar rate of the former sodium halide to scandium halide is 1/2-9. The emission tube also is charged with at least one of the halides of titanium, zirconium and hafnium. As a result, relatively high efficiency (more than 80lm/W) and high color rendering (general color rendering index >=80) can be realized. |
