PURPOSE:To estimate the gradation of a signal containing no noise even in case the noises emerge in terms of probability in place of signals in a picture processing method containing the gradation information. CONSTITUTION:When an underwater subject is observed, the air bubbles are produced frequently as noises between an ITV camera and the subject. Thus the signal pictures sent from the subject are sometimes hidden. In such a case, the pictures are supplied continuously by 100 times, for example, and stored for each picture element in an emerging frequency memory that can cover the minimum gradation through the maximum gradation. Thus the gradation histogram is obtained for each picture element. Here the same gradation histogram is secured with all picture elements in response to noises as long as the noises occur in an approximately equal frequency with each picture element. Therefore the histogram produced by signals sent from the subject can be obtained for each picture element by subtracting the gradation histogram emerging with each picture element from the gradation histogram containing noises obtained for each picture element with reference to all picture elements. |
