In a charge air cooler with an inlet pipe 2 to the connection on a supercharger the inlet pipe is provided with a mouth section 15 of wider diameter, into which an absorption silencer, comprising a tubular sound absorption element 12 and an internal wall in the form of a cylindrical component 13a and 13b with large openings 14, is inserted. By means of the absorption silencer high-frequency pulsations of the charge air, which occur in the event of load reversal, are isolated from the charge air cooler or so damped that the generation of unwanted noise is prevented. Due to the arrangement of the silencer inside the inlet pipe the silencer does not require any connections of its own. <IMAGE> |
