A method and device for stored program control of devices (12), which can be moved mechanically via servo components (11), and the positions of which can be detected by sensors (13), is proposed. The device (12) is moved successively into desired positions, manually or controlled by servo components, and these positions are each stored in a stored program control device (14, 15) on receiving a store command. Afterwards, the stored positions are automatically approached, in sequence, by this control device (14, 15). In this way, the sequence of movements of a movable device, particularly a machine tool, can be simply and quickly set or changed. <IMAGE>
