PURPOSE:To make it possible to certainly transport a sheet to be thermally transferred one at a time and to prevent the transport of a plurality of said sheets at once, by providing a receiving layer receiving the dye transferred from the thermal transfer sheet at the time of heating on the single surface of a base material while providing a slip layer on the other surface of the base material. CONSTITUTION:A sheet 1 to be thermally transferred wherein a receiving layer 3 is provided on the upper surface of a base layer 2 and a slip layer 4 is provided on the under surface thereof, is superposed so that the thermal transfer layer 8 of a thermal transfer sheet 9 having a thermal transfer layer comprising a sublimable dye and a binder laminated to the support 7 thereof is contacted with the receiving layer 3. The sheet 1 to be thermally transferred is heated from the back surface side thereof by a spot printing means heated and controlled by the electric signal corresponding to image information to transfer the sublimable dye from the thermal transfer layer 7 to the receiving layer 3 and a character or image is formed on the receiving layer 3. Because the sheet 1 to be thermally transferred has a slip layer 4, said sheet 1 can be smoothly taken out one at a time. When an antistatic layer 5 is provided on the surface of the slip layer 4, the lubricity of the sheet 1 to be thermally transferred can be enhanced still more.
