<p>A windscreen wiper assembly for a vehicle comprises a carrier assembly (6), mounted at its lower end for reciprocating movement in a housing (8) and carrying at its upper end, in a housing (16), a blade assembly (18). First drive means is adapted to cause reciprocating movement of the carrier assembly (6) to cause the blade assembly (18) to sweep back and forth across the windscreen, and second drive means (24) is adapted to rotate the blade assembly (18) relative to the carrier assembly (6). When selection means of the wiper assembly is in a first position, neither of the drive means operate, and when the selection means is moved to a second position the first drive means is operated, to cause reciprocation of the blade assembly (18). When the selection means is moved to a third position, operation of the first drive means is terminated, and operation of the second drive means (24) is commenced to rotate the blade assembly (18).</p> |
