PURPOSE:To enable the detection of internal state of a tower without stopping the operation thereof, by using a ray source and a sensor to scan the tower to be detected axially while sandwiching it by the two units. CONSTITUTION:A driver 20 is set at the height of a tray 11 to be observed on the side position of a tower 10 to be detected. In the measurement, the dose of the transmission radiation to be detected with a sensor 23 passing through the tower 10 being detected after radiated from a ray source 22 is less in the transmission at a liquid-phase section within the tower 10 being detected while larger in the gaseous phase at the gaseous phase section. This allows the estimation of the internal condition. A moderate amount of liquid retains on the tray 11 of the tower 10 and an excess liquid flows over the lower tray 11 through a down-comer 12. This condition shows a normal operation. This enables the checking for the behavior of gas and liquid on the tray 11 of the tower 10 and thus, the internal state thereof can be determined accurately. |
