A load carrier for a vehicle comprises a rod 6 which extends transversely over the roof 1 of the vehicle and which at both ends has fastening devices 7 for engagement with opposite edge sections 4,5 of the roof 1. The fastening devices 7 have firstly feet 8,9;42 and tension hooks 10,11 which engage with the roof and secondly coupling members 16,18;52;61 which fix the position of the rod 6 in the fastening devices. On the one hand the feet 8,9;42 and the tension hooks 10,11 are connected to a control device 12,13 by means of which they can be guided to their engagement positions and on the other hand the coupling members 16,18 are connected to a control device by means of which they can be guided to their rod-securing positions, and the control device is common to the feet, the tension hooks and the coupling members respectively. <IMAGE> |
