PURPOSE:To decrease the cold shut of an ingot by maintaining a specified small spacing between the outside circumference of a cylindrical mail ring part and the inside surface of a female ring and constituting a joint ring in such a manner that the female ring is housed into the receiving seat part of a casting mold by a loose fit. CONSTITUTION:The joint ring 15 is constituted of the male ring 16 and female ring 17 made of a refractory material. The male ring 16 is formed of a cylindrical part 16a and flange part 16b which are made into the integral L-section having an obtuse- angled inside corner. The male ring 16 is formed to the angular section at which said ring is fitted to the outside circumference of the cylindrical part 16a. A projecting angle corner 17a of the female ring 17 makes point contact with a recessed angular corner 16c of the male ring 16 when the attraction force in the axial line direction acts between both by the tightening force to assemble the mold. The female ring 17 is housed, by a loose fit, into the receiving seat part 18 of approximately the same shape as the cross sectional shape of said ring formed to the inside circumference at the inflow port end of the mold 1. The heat transmission is thereby decreased and since the top end of the male ring 16 of the joint ring is maintained at a high temp. by heat insulation, the cold shut of the ingot is decreased. |
