PURPOSE:To prevent phenomena of oil whirling, oil whipping, etc. from taking place in a low load condition, by making the axial length of one of a bearing part in two halves different from the axial length of the other of said bearing part in two halves. CONSTITUTION:A plain bearing 10 is a bearing in two halves consisting of an upper bearing 8 and a lower bearing 9, and an upper metal 8a is fitted in the upper bearing 8 and a lower metal 9a is fitted in the lower bearing 9. The axial lengths l1, l2 of the upper metal 8a and the lower metal 9a are different from each other, with the axial length l1 of the upper metal 8a being longer than the axial length l2 of the lower metal 9a, and these lengths l1, l2 are obtained from the following equations: A1=piD{l1/2+(90-theta1)(l2-l1)/360}, A2=piD{l2/2+(90- theta2)(l1-l2)/360}, where, D indicates the diameter of the bearing 10; theta1, theta2 indicate the directions of load at high and low loading times respectively; and, A1, A2 indicate the projected areas of the directions of load of the bearing. |
