PURPOSE:To obtain a material having high sensitivity, a wide exposure range, superior graininess, sharpness and shelf stability and hardly causing fog by safelight by specifying gamma formed by a point having 0.05 optical density and a point having 0.30 optical density and gamma formed by the point having 0.50 optical density and a point having 1.5 optical density. CONSTITUTION:On the characteristic curve of a silver halide photographic sensitive material for X-rays on an orthogonal coordinate system with optical density (D) and the exposure (log E) having the same unit length as the coordinate axes, gamma (gamma1) formed by a point having 0.05 optical density and a point having 0.30 optical density is regulated to 0.50-1.00, and gamma (gamma2) formed by the point having 0.50 optical density and a point having 1.5 optical density is regulated to 2.5-3.5. At least part of the silver halide particles in the sensitive material have 0.5-10mol% average silver iodide content and silver iodide-rich parts having >=20mol% silver iodide content are present in the particles.
