A device for sealing two parts (1, 2) that can be moved relative to one another, especially at high pressures, comprises at least one annular recess (12) for the reception of a flexible sealing ring (14). In order to keep the seal gap between the parts that can be moved relative to one another substantially constant without great expense and irrespective of the pressure, the recess (12) is arranged in one of the two arched outer surfaces of a metallic ring (9), while the other arched outer surface bounds a circumferential collar (25) formed by an axial circumferential recess (27) extending over at least 2/3 of the width of the ring (9) on the high-pressure side and has a thread (8) which engages in a mating thread (7) for the support of the ring (9), a circumferential leakage gap (28) with a predeterminable cross-section being formed between the two threads (7, 8) for the purpose of pressure reduction. <IMAGE>
