The process comprises a plurality of thin sheets of wood 3 of different colours which are joined to form blocks 5 carrying located in combination the sheets with the different colours, in combination with a chequered design 1, in such a manner that each of the blocks formed with sheets of different colours will be combined with longitudinal or transverse strips 4 of the motif 2 designed within the chequerboard pattern, the piece of micromarquetry being formed with the combination of the cut sheets 6 of each one of the blocks, forming therewith and correctly located a final block whose upper plane, forming a chequerboard pattern, will carry the motif in an encrusted version, superposed sheets of this latter block being cut, all these being for the purpose of micromarquetry.
