The support section (1) has a closed hollow transverse profile of polygonal external overall shape. Two outer portions (8a-c) of its profile each have at least one relief (7) comprising two sides (10a, 10b). These two sides are orthogonal to this portion, or substantially undercut with respect to it, and face each other. All the reliefs (7) of the section are identical. The section is targetted at the construction of furniture and partitions, and it allows these to be erected and dismantled in very varied configurations. <IMAGE>
