PURPOSE:To reduce the electromagnetic force applied to the flashlamps by a method wherein an odd number of flashlamps are arranged parallel to each other and on the same plane and the directions of the currents flowing through adjacent flashlamps are opposite to each other. CONSTITUTION:A laser device has rows of flashlamps as exciting light sources and, in the row of the flashlamps, a large number of the flashlamps 22 are arranged parallel to each other and on the same plane and the direction of the currents flowing through adjacent flashlamps are opposite to each other. In such laser device, the odd number of the flashlamps 22 are provided in a row. If, for instance, the odd number is 11, four upper side lamps compose two pairs of return lines and six lower lamps compose three pairs of return lines. Therefore, an electromagnetic force applied to the lamp 5 is relatively small. If, for instance, the number is 10, among the lamps existing below the lamp 5, the lamps 7 and 8 and the lamps 9 and 10 compose respective return lines. Therefore, the electromotive force induced by mutual reaction between the lamp 5 and the lamp 6 is applied to the lamp 5. It can be easily presumed that this induced electromagnetic force is larger compared to the electromagnetic force in the case of the number of the lamps is an odd number. |
