The articles to be joined have raised bulge formations, and plastics clamps are used, which are set together to form a long strip for automatic feed into an applicator. This applicator (16) is pivotably fitted on a shaft pin (17) on a base plate (15). - The clamps (12) are fed into the applicator as a cohesive strip which, at the end of the process, is separated into individual clamps by bending. The items to be joined together (10,11) each have a bulge formation (10a,11a) around which the clamps engage, and are fed automatically to the assembly position. The applicator presses the clamps over the bulge formations as the items to be joined are successively moved forward. |
