MULTIFILAMENT HAVING HIGH LATENT BULKINESS

A multifilament having high latent bulkiness comprises a flat hollow filament having a cross section which is flat and asymmetrical in the short-axis direction, and having thick spots in the lengthwise direction. The filament contains a hollow portion on the large side in cross section divided by the short axis. The degree of orientation the hollow portion is greater than the degree of orientation in the neighboring solid. The multifilament exhibits large difference in contraction in the filaments and among the filaments, and produces a large force of contraction during the heat-treatment. Therefore, woven fabrics obtained by using the multifilament exhibit uniform and sufficiently high bulkiness even when they are treated with heat.
