<p>The fixing device has a chamber containing a bursting charge, which when fired automatically anchors it in position. The device is a rivet-nail, formed by a sleeve closed at one end, at which it accommodates the charge (3), and open and folded inwards at the other. Inside the sleeve (1) is a nail (5) with head (6), shank and point (6a), and which is driven out by the charge through the open end. The nail head acts as a piston and also as a stop against the inwards-folded portion (7) of the sleeve. The point of the nail can fit directly in the opening, while its head slides directly in the sleeve, into which the charge is pressed.</p> |
