PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reflection type liquid crystal display device which is capable of making bright and multicolor display and has good visibility by forming pixel electrodes and driving circuits on the side of a first substrate facing a liquid crystal layer and arranging a low reflection film on the side of the first substrate not facing the liquid crystal layer. SOLUTION: This element has the transparent substrate 1 and the substrate 2 having reflection color filters 21 arranged at a prescribed spacing and is provided with the liquid crystal layer 3 between the substrates 1 and 2. The side of the transparent substrate 1 facing the liquid crystal layer 3 is provided with transparent electrodes 4 and the side of the substrate 2 facing the liquid crystal layer 3 is provided with transparent electrodes 5. The surfaces of the transparent electrodes 4, 5 are provided with liquid crystal alignment layers 6, 7 so as to hold the liquid crystal layer 3. The liquid crystal layer side of the substrate 1 is provided with thin-film transistor(TFT) driving circuit elements 8. The rear surface of the reflection color filters 21 is provided with a light absorption layer 22. The side of the transparent substrate 1 opposite to the liquid crystal layer 3 (the side not facing the liquid crystal layer 3) is provided with a low reflection film 9. Further, the extreme observer side of the transparent substrate 1 is provided with a colorless material 10. |
