Television receiver with automatic adjustment of image contrast. The receiver comprises circuits for amplifying 2 and demodulating 4 the transmission signals, the amplifying circuit 2 capable of being regulated by insertion of an adjusting signal produced in an automatic gain-control circuit 10. The circuit 10 is connected to a rectifier 4, arranged so as to produce measurements for the variable maximum amplitudes of the image content, and to an integration circuit 6 capable of integrating the aforementioned measurements.
