摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate the danger of sudden starting of the vehicle by a method wherein the speed change ratio of the device is controlled to an infinitive value when an intercepting mechanism located between a continuously variable transmission change mechanism and the axle of the vehicle is in an intercepted condition. CONSTITUTION:A friction type continuously variable transmission 8, capable of changing the speed change ratio from the infinitive value to a predetermined value continuously, is employed as the speed change mechanism while the intercepting mechanism, consisting of a gear 19 and a slider 20, is provided between the continuously variable transmission 8 and the axle 22 and the speed change ratio of the continuously variable transmission 8 is controlled to the infinitive value when said intercepting mechanism is in the condition of interception. According to this method, when a driver operates a lever 21 to release once the engagement of the gear 19 and the slider 20, the speed change ratio of the continuously variable transmission 8 is being set at the infinitive value upon restarting the engine, therefore, the speed change ratio of the continuously variable transmission 8 will never become the infinitive value, the gear 19 engages with the slider 20 and the danger of sudden running of the vehicle may be eliminated.
