The low-density float or raft (10) for transporting goods or equipment by water has a rectangular planform with fenders at the corners. It has a flat bottom with recesses to accommodate propellers (22) which may be lowered for propulsion or raised or of harm's way. Anchors (28) may be carried at the bow together with propellers. More propellers may be fitted amidships. Engines or motors (20) drive the propellers and raise the anchors. There are bunker tanks (50) on deck, together with a deckhouse (60) and a control bridge (30). The float has a watertight skin with a cast foam filling and reinforcing struts.
