The invention relates to an apparatus for cutting DC current without any means of arc displacement (blasting coil, air jet). It consists of two moving contacts 1,1 operated by four actuators 8,8 and 9,9 during closure, and returned by the springs 7,7 during opening. A first contact is established between the horns 2,2 having a rotation about axes 4,4 and which are returned by the springs 6,6, the current intakes 3,3 being fixed to the contacts 1,1. Depending on the magnitude of the current to be cut, the arc can be extinguished in the region of the horns 2,2, or the horns 10,10 in order to be extinguished in the region of the cutout chamber. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for cutting DC currents varying greatly in intensity from a few amperes to thousands of amperes and possibly changing direction. <IMAGE>
