PURPOSE:To enable easy and quick diagnosis by retrieving means for storing the fault information while weighting with occurring probability of fault on the basis of symptoms to be inputted and predicting the causes of inputted symptoms then weighting the results of prediction and informing. CONSTITUTION:The fault diagnostic apparatus 9 for vehicle comprises a means 1 for storing the fault information of vehicle while weighting with the occurring probability of fault and a means 3 for inputting the symptom information. On the basis of symptom information to be fed through the input means 3, predicting means 5 will retrieve the weighting fault information in the storing means 1 thus to predict the causes of inputted symptoms. It is constructed such that the results of prediction from said means 5 are weighted on the basis of weighting fault information and informed through informing means 7. Consequently, the causes of fault can be diagnosed easily and quickly.
