A technique for firmly fastening a first member and a second member. A columnar section is formed on the first member, a hole is formed in the second member, and the columnar section of the first member is press fitted into the hole of the second member. The diameter of the circumscribing circle circumscribing a cross-section perpendicular to the axis of the columnar section is set greater than the inscribing circle inscribing a cross-section perpendicular to the axis of the hole. The diameter of the inscribing circle inscribing the cross-section perpendicular to the axis of the columnar section is set smaller than the diameter of the circumscribing circle circumscribing the cross-section perpendicular to the axis of the hole. Either the columnar section or the hole section having higher hardness at its side face than the other is provided with a tapered section having a side face tilted relative to the axial direction, and the tapered section is at that end section of the either of the sections that is located on the forward side in the press fitting.
