摘要 In a method for processing or inspecting carcasses of slaughtered animals, especially pigs 39, 40, 46 at a processing or inspection station the carcasses are conveyed one after another in a continuously operating first conveyor system, in which the carcasses suspended by the hind legs are conveyed on a given track and at a speed typically of 200-400 carcasses per hour. From this first conveyor system the carcasses are transferred to an intermittently operating, second conveyor system, in which the individual carcass 40 is conveyed suspended by the hind legs and fastened on a fixing stand 17, which is conveyed around a closed track. For the transfer to a stand, the total length of the carcasses at a station 49 is measured. On the basis of this length measurement the stand is positioned correctly in relation to the carcass by means of a device 81 for height adjustment of the main fastening parts of the stand. At a subsequent station the position of given anatomical items, front leg and collar bone, on the individual carcass is determined, and on the basis of the said total length and these further positional data, insertion probes are controlled, which are positioned correctly in relation to the carcass, and which are introduced at required points in the carcass, and by means of which a quality assessment is undertaken, on the basis of which quality assessment, stamping units 86, 87, 88, 89 and 90 are also controlled. After stamping, the carcass is transferred from the second, intermittently operating conveyor system to the first, continually operating conveyor system. On the basis of the length measurement and the positional determinations undertaken, the probes and the stamping units are controlled, together with any other processing elements such as sampling elements or the like. On the basis of the quality assessment the carcass can not only be stamped but also classified correctly, it being possible to make optimum use of the various parts of the carcass on the basis of the quality assessment undertaken. All these data relating to length, positions, quality, classification etc. are stored and processed on a central computer 10, 11. <IMAGE>
