PURPOSE:To evaluate the hydrogen donative power of a solvent in a short-period contact liquefaction reaction of coal for 1-15min at 380-450 deg.C by using anthracene as a hydrogen receptor for capturing the donative hydrogen from the solvent. CONSTITUTION:This evaluating method for the hydrogen donative power of the solvent to be used in the short-period contact liquefaction reaction for dissolving coal under the reaction conditions of 380-450 deg.C and 1-15min in the presence of the solvent estimates the coal liquefying power by adding the anthracene at >=1pt.wt. to 1pt.wt. solvent, bringing the same into reaction under the conditions of 400-450 deg.C, 1-10min and >=20kg/cm<2>G initial hydrogen pressure, measuring the amt. of 9,10-dihydroanthracene formed in the resulted product after the reaction and evaluating the hydrogen donative power of the coal liquefying solvent.
