The circuit (10) has a comparator (KA) performing voltage comparison with two different reference voltages to provide a comparison voltage in a time division method. The circuit has a receiver (Rec) and a data transmitter (16) for an electrical interface (12). The data transmitter is impressed on an interface line (14) by a controllable current source (18) into different time sections of current at different rated current. Electrical energy is provided for operating an electric circuit of the interface line by a voltage source. The comparison voltage is produced by a voltage source. An independent claim is also included for a method for receiving a data signal from a transmitter to an electrical interface.
