PURPOSE:To obtain a good finished surface, by setting the leading particulars of a diamond tip as follows. a=0.7-1.7mm, b=0.002-0.008mm, R=30.626-45.160mm, alpha=0 deg.-+3 deg., gamma=3 deg.-5 deg., theta=39.3'-1 deg.4.7'. CONSTITUTION:A tool rest is set such that a diamond tip, performing initial cutting by its lateral cutting edge ridge 9 or 10 in the feed direction side of a tool, provides the final point at a point 3 in the central part of a front cutting edge ridge 6. The tool, providing the central point 3 as the most protrusive point for the finished surface of a work material because the cutting edge ridge 6 forms a circular arc of very large radius for a depth of cut by the tool, accurately finishes the machined surface into a very good mirror surface of the like.
