PURPOSE:To obtain the title copolymer having high heat stability and useful as, e.g., a thermoplastic elastomer, by polycondensing a specified polyether with a specified polyamide in the presence of an aromatic phosphite esters and a pyridine derivative. CONSTITUTION:An equimolar mixture of a polyether having an amino group on each end, represented by formula I (wherein R<2> is a 30C or lower bivalent organic group and m is 10-200) and a polyamide having a carboxyl group on each end, represented by formula IV (wherein R<1> is a bivalent organic group, Ar is a bivalent aromatic organic group, and n is 1-30) and prepared by reacting an aromatic diamine of formula II with a dicarboxlic acid of formula III is dissolved in a solvent mixture comprising an aromatic phosphite ester, a pyridine derivative and an organic solvent such as N-mehylpyrrolidone to form a solution of a concentration of 5-30wt%, and the monomers are allowed to react with each other at 60-140 deg.C for several min-20hr in the presence of an inert atmosphere such as nitrogen to obtain a polyether-polyamide multiblock copolymer of formula V (wherein x is 2-20).
